Depth of Field is a spinoff project for Michael and Andrew. Finding themselves increasingly unable to gather and make music, divided by distance and jobs and being parents they gravitated away from strings to keyboards and loops and things to create trailer music for the Canadian Film Institutes year long series of film festivals. The plot was simple, the artistic director would challenge the guys to “make a song that sounds like xyz no longer than abc, needs to arc and explode here and I want to hear the sound of distilled thunder” and away they would go. Once complete the technical director, would build an impactful promo video on top of the musical track and they would use the short videos to promote the festival, walk on music for events and in the press. The biggest job that Depth of Field had the pleasure of working on was the Canada Now series that travelled through the USA promoting Canadian independent films.
